About

I’m Blair (they/them). I research, teach, and create stories about the governance of artificial intelligence.

My exploratory & applied research covers:

  • The application of queer & trans thought to AI governance
  • How and why people make policies and strategies for AI
  • The political economy, ecology, and ethics of AI value chains

I teach courses on AI ethics & policy, advise organizations, and advocate for community-led AI governance.

My storytelling combines speculative fiction, surrealism, and transgender politics to explore potential futures of AI governance.

All of my work is influenced by my experience working as a queer/trans professional in public sector, academic, and startup environments for over a decade.

I’m currently a PhD Candidate and SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholar at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information.

I have a dog named Huxley and many nameless houseplants.
