About

I’m Blair (she/they). I research, teach, and create stories about the governance of artificial intelligence.

My research covers:

  • The application of queer & trans thought to AI governance
  • AI governance systems in Canada and internationally
  • The ethics of global AI value chains

I teach courses on AI ethics & policy, advise organizations, and advocate for community-led AI governance systems.

My creative work combines speculative fiction, glitch art, and surrealism to explore trans perspectives of the future of AI.

All of my work is influenced by my experience as a queer/trans professional for 10+ years across the public sector, academia, and industry.

I’m currently a PhD Candidate at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information. My research has been funded by a SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship and three Ontario Graduate Scholarships.

I have a dog named Huxley and many nameless houseplants.
