About

I’m Blair (they/them). I research, teach, and create stories about the governance of artificial intelligence.

I conduct exploratory & applied research on:

  • The application of queer/trans philosophy to AI governance
  • The design and implementation of AI policies and strategies
  • The political economy, ecology, and ethics of AI value chains

I teach courses, advise organizations, and regularly speak in public venues on issues related to AI ethics, policy, and governance.

My creative writing and transmedia storytelling projects explore potential futures for AI governance through the lenses of speculative fiction, glitch aesthetics, and transgender politics.

All of my work is influenced by my experience working as a queer/trans professional in research, advisory, and management roles across many public sector, academic, and entrepreneurial environments.

I’m currently a PhD Candidate and SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholar at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information.

I have a dog named Huxley and many nameless houseplants.

Email me for questions and comments, research/work/speaking opportunities, or anything else.
