About

I’m Blair (they/them). I research, teach, and create stories about the governance of artificial intelligence.

My research covers:

  • The application of queer & trans thought to AI governance
  • How and why people make AI policies & strategies
  • The political economy, ecology, & ethics of AI value chains

I teach courses on AI ethics & policy, advise organizations, and advocate for community-led AI governance.

My creative projects combine speculative fiction, glitch, and surrealism to explore trans perspectives in dysregulated tech futures.

All of my work is influenced by my experience working as a queer/trans professional for 10+ years across public sector, academic, and startup environments.

I’m currently a PhD Candidate and SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholar at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information.

I have a dog named Huxley and many nameless houseplants.
